Some call it the best holiday of the year to show passion, romance and love to your significant other. Some call it a made-up Hallmark Day of outrageous prices on cards, candy, flowers and dinner.
In either case, each year Americans are on the hunt to find the best Valentine’s Day ideas to make a solid impression.
NYCasinos.com took a break from following legislation for online New York casinos to use Google Trends to discover and rank the top 10 states most interested in ideas for Valentine’s Day this year. And there it is: New York landed in the top 10. (The search period was between Dec. 25, 2023 - Jan. 25, 2024). Here are the top states that put love on a pedestal:
New York (33) is tied for fourth with California (33) and Texas (33). The Empire State is host to “The City That Never Sleeps,” “The City of No Illusions,” and is appropriately named “The Flower City.”
Neighbor Pennsylvania cozied up into the No. 8 spot with a search interest of 25. Another neighbor, New Jersey - otherwise known as “The Garden State” - finished one spot better and placed seventh at 27.
Illinois topped all states with a strong interest of 100, followed by Massachusetts (83), and Ohio (68).
You have less than 10 days to decide. Here is an idea: Go have a nice, relaxing time with a good meal. According to the National Restaurant Association in 2022, there are more than 48,000 eating and drinking places in the state. Repeat: More than 48,000.
If you can’t land a reservation or have a good time with those options, maybe love is not in the air and maybe, just maybe, it wasn’t meant to be.
So, take the winnings you are going to collect after Sunday’s Super Bowl and parlay it into making someone happy . . . other than yourself.
